CISOS are the guardians of an organization's digital fort. They face a relentless barrage of threats, from ever-evolving cyber-attacks to the ever-expanding attack surface created by cloud adoption and remote workforces. Securing both IT and OT environments requires a multifaceted approach that addresses unique vulnerabilities and fosters collaboration across traditionally siloed departments.

Conquering the Security Trifecta: Top CISO Concerns and some actionable recommendations

The once-distinct worlds of IT and OT are colliding in a digital maelstrom, creating a security minefield for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs).

A successful IT network breach can now potentially pivot and disrupt critical OT functions, leading to anything - from production stoppages to environmental disasters. This expanded attack surface keeps CISOS up at night.

Apurva Dalal, CISO, Adani Greens, said, 'We learn from industry incidents, such as the Ukrainian power grid attack caused by malware infiltrating SCADA systems via a USB drive or email." "Cyber threats have become more sophisticated, especially with advancements in AI, making phishing attacks more convincing. Protecting intellectual property (IP) is also a major concern, requiring continuous monitoring to ensure data isn't leaked. For operational technology, which isn't as mature as IT, we have to take extra steps to protect it," he adds.

Built for a bygone era, the legacy systems lack modern security features, making them prime targets for attackers armed with sophisticated tools. Patching these systems often comes at the cost of disrupting critical operations, forcing CISOs to walk a tightrope between security and functionality.

TOP CONCERNS OF CISOS

We explored the top concerns that dominate the minds of CISOs, highlighting the critical areas where they must focus their efforts to protect their organizations from ever-evolving cyber-security threats.
