Global aircraft OEMs such as Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer continue to report healthy orders despite an operating environment for these OEMs that is becoming increasingly complex, with rising global tensions. Airbus, the largest aeronautics and space company in Europe, remains the undisputed commercial aviation leader. In total, Airbus, which provides products, services, and solutions for the commercial aircraft, helicopter, defence and space sectors, recorded revenues of €69 billion in 2024 and employs over 150,000 people worldwide at more than 180 sites. Boeing also provides products, services, and solutions for the commercial aircraft, defence and space sectors It is organised into Boeing Commercial Aeroplanes (BCA), Boeing Defence, Space & Security (BDS), and Boeing Global Services (BGS). Boeing reported total revenues for the full year 2024 of approximately $66.5 billion, a decrease from the $77.8 billion reported in 2023. Boeing’s total workforce is approximately 172,000, with 15 per cent located outside the U.S.
Airbus's commercial aircraft order backlog totalled a staggering 8,754 commercial aircraft at the end of June 2025, while BCA’s order backlog at the end of July this year was over 5,900 aeroplanes valued at $522 billion.
