Comac's ARJ21 commences Indonesia operations

Comac's ARJ21-700 regional jet recently made its overseas debut Aviation from Jakarta to Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport, marking the start of commercial operations.

TransNusa, based in Jakarta, made history last December when it received its inaugural ARJ21, becoming the first non-Chinese operator of this type. The process of procuring this narrowbody aircraft started back in 2016 when China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) placed an order for 30 ARJ21s with an option to acquire an additional 30. CALC had expressed interest in assisting an Indonesian operator, whose identity was not disclosed at the time, with purchasing, investment, and aircraft leasing to create a fleet comprising solely of ARJ21s.
