Women in Construction brought up many excellent points on encouragement, their talents, and what they bring to the workplace

Last year, when we embarked on organising a virtual event, Women in Construction, many seemed joyous. Most felt that such events should be encouraged.
This year, we organised an on-ground evening event at Hotel Sofitel BKC on March 16.
Bibhor Srivastava, MD, ITP Media Group (India) welcomed the audience by talking about the increasing number of women in real estate and infrastructure and the stellar role they play. "Professionally they are more competent and diligent in their work. In fact, organisations that hire more women will always find themselves having an edge over those that are biased," he ended.
It was followed by a small presentation by Zankhana Desai, GM, contracts, Vishwa Samudra Group. She spoke about how her company has made vast and quick progress in infrastructure projects, not to forget their CSR activities. "The Group has a pan India presence and also operate in UK, USA, Germany and UAE. Our government cannot stress enough on infrastructure and this is a much needed initiative. We have completed 700km of roads in various states, not to forget the airports and ports projects," she added.
Shyam Raghunandan, MD, Schueco India, spoke about how the women on jobsites work tirelessly and most of the time are invisible. We must do our bit to support them in any way we can. In our industry, we work with a lot of partners who are entrepreneurs and there are 3-4 women who I look up to considering that the facade and window fabrication industry is mostly male dominated," he added.
