Blurring the boundaries between nature and workspace, Pooja Bihani of Spaces and Design crafts an office where the essence of life takes shape through organic forms and thoughtful symbolism.

LEAFLINE: WEAVING NATURE INTO THE FABRIC OF WORKPLACE DESIGN

Much like the veins of a leaf nourish and sustain a tree, the company provides essential support to the healthcare industry—this metaphor is meticulously woven into every design element.

Modern office design often prioritises sleek lines and cutting-edge technology, but designer Pooja Bihani of Spaces and Design offers a different perspective—one that seamlessly blends nature, symbolism, and functionality. Her latest project, an office for a leading medical device provider, reimagines the workplace as a nurturing, life-affirming environment. Rooted in the symbolic essence of a leaf, the design draws a direct connection between the client’s mission—saving and sustaining life—and the organic, interconnected elements that shape the space.

imageConcept: The leaf as a lifeline
For a company dedicated to producing life-saving medical devices, the office needed to be more than just a workspace; it had to embody the essence of vitality, care, and interconnectedness. Bihani envisioned a space where the leaf motif—a universal symbol of growth and renewal—would serve as the conceptual backbone. Much like the veins of a leaf nourish and sustain a tree, the company provides essential support to the healthcare industry. This metaphor was meticulously woven into every design element, from the spatial planning and textures to the lighting and colour palette.

imageThe leaf motif is not merely decorative but deeply integrated into the architecture, subtly reinforcing the idea of life, nurture, and balance. From wall textures to bespoke ceramics, every element pays homage to nature while maintaining a sophisticated and functional aesthetic.
