Niels and Kris Huber discuss how Boon Edam is combining heritage, technology, and design to redefine workplace access in India.
-
With a history dating back to 1873, Boon Edam has transformed from a modest carpentry shop in Amsterdam into a global leader in access and security solutions. For Niels Huber, Chairman, and his daughter, Kris Huber, this 150-year legacy is more than a milestone, it is a responsibility. "Generations of people and families have built Boon Edam into what it is today. My job is to ensure it continues to grow without losing its essence," Niels reflects. For the Hubers, sustaining a legacy means balancing tradition with constant innovation and talent development, ensuring the company remains relevant for decades to come.
Boon Edam's journey has been defined by decisive specialization and forward-thinking strategy. From its first revolving door in 1903 to its modern-day portfolio of high-security entrances, optical turnstiles, and service solutions, the company has consistently evolved. “The late 1960s were a turning point," says Niels. "Focusing solely on revolving doors set the foundation for our growth.” Today, Boon Edam's operations rest on three pillars — public entry, security access, and service —providing balance and resilience in an ever-changing market.
