AMD Powering the Future of Telecom, Infrastructure, and Beyond

During an interaction with Vidushi, Rohith Gopalakrishna – Country Sales Manager, Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group – AMD India & Vinay Sinha, Corporate Vice President, India Sales, AMD discussed AMD's pivotal role in various sectors, including telecom, transportation, and gaming, emphasizing their technological innovations, strategic collaborations, and commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

What role does AMD play in the evolution of the telecom industry, especially in the context of 5G and beyond? AMD plays a pivotal role in shaping the telecom industry's evolution, particularly in the era of 5G. With a longstanding commitment to providing programmable solutions for wired and wireless networking equipment, AMD's technology spans the entire network infrastructure - from 3G and 4G to the current forefront of 5G towers and beyond. Our RFSoC products have been crucial in the current 5G deployments from integration, performance and power efficiency. AMD is now poised to play a significant role in the development of 6G technologies, which will extensively utilize AI across the vRAN (Virtual Radio Access Network) from vDU Baseband optimization/acceleration, O-RU for spectral efficiency, PIM Cancelation and adaptive beamforming.

In India, AMD has collaborated with local partners such as C-DOT and VVDN Technologies (and others) for 4G and 5G radio equipment, reinforcing our role in the country’s digital transformation. Globally, we collaborate with industry leaders such as NEC, Viettel and Ericsson on critical 5G network innovations, and contribute to openRAN technology advancements with partners like Samsung and Vodafone. Our efforts underscore AMD's commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the infrastructure necessary for nextgeneration connectivity solutions.
