THE YEAR OUR DEVICES BECOME US

THE convergence of artificial intelligence, advanced wearables and powerful on-device processing will redefine the relationship between humans and technology in 2025. This year, our devices will transition from mere tools to extensions of ourselves, anticipating our needs, augmenting our senses, and facilitating hyper-personalisation never before experienced.

Dawn of the Intuitive Assistant

Smartphones are leading the charge in this technological revolution. They are evolving into intuitive assistants capable of understanding and responding to individual needs with unprecedented accuracy. This transformation is driven by advancements in on-device AI, particularly by developing sophisticated small language models (SLMs).

Apple's upcoming A19 chip is said to feature a dedicated neural engine capable of running complex SLMs directly on the device. This will enable features like proactive suggestion generation, personalised content creation, and even stylistic mimicry in email and message composition. Imagine the iPhone drafting a professional email in its user's unique tone or curating a playlist that perfectly matches the mood before one even asks.

Samsung is also heavily invested in on-device AI, with its in-house language model set to power the Galaxy S25 series. This technology will enable features like personalised news summaries, automated task management and even real-time language translation.
