BEST

I love improving and the challenge of improving my sailing. So, in that sense it’s really important. Improving and striving to get better is what keeps windsurfing interesting to me. I windsurf with a lot of very talented windsurfers on Maui year round, which pushes my sailing a ton. It’s something we are pretty fortunate to have on Maui and I think the only way to get better is to push yourself to do things you aren’t comfortable with.

DEFINING MOMENT

Prior to winning my first Aloha Classic I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do. I didn’t have a lot of support and I wasn’t sure I was going to keep competing. I was starting to lean more towards going to University off the island, which also would have been a good choice, but it basically made it clear to me that I should pursue windsurfing and keep following my dreams. Financially it probably wasn’t the best decision, but I’ve sure had a lot of fun and I don’t think I’ll ever regret making that choice.
