Smallest model yet in Volkswagen's electric car line-up promises a range of up to 280 miles - and a hot GTI version is in the pipeline

THEY SAY BIG things come in small packages, but when you add affordability into the mix, you've potentially got something special - and that's what the all-new Volkswagen ID 2 has been designed to offer.

Based on the ID 2all concept that was shown in 2023, this electric hatchback is a similar size to the Peugeot e-208 and Mini Cooper E. It's the first VW Group model to use all-new, simplified underpinnings designed specifically for small electric cars; unlike in other existing ID models, the motor drives the front wheels.
