YOU CAN'T SEE IT when it's on your wrist, but the heart of even the simplest mechanical watch, with its minute components whirling on jewel bearings, is incredible. And even a humble mechanism can become a legend. The Valjoux 7750 movement was born out of pragmatism, intended to be an affordable alternative to the high-end automatic chronographs emerging in the late Sixties. What it became was a versatile, customizable workhorse that conquered the horological world.
