RELIANT SCIMITAR GTE

In May, I finally moved into my new place and finished the DiY, so it was time to swap weekend trips to B&Q for some visits to my local parts shop to try to get the Reliant ready for the Le Mans Classic.

Although it was a relief to put the car in a garage at last, a few weeks of house renovations had quickly left the Scimitar lying under piles of cardboard boxes and surrounded by bits of old wardrobes, and looking more like a neglected barn-find project than an up-and-together car.

So my first job was to give it a quick wash. With a bucket of soapy water ready to go, two little helpers arrived in the form of my niece and nephew. I never considered myself much of a pernickety car cleaner but, as I caught myself trying to explain the importance of a pre-wash to a one-year-old and a three-year-old, I realised that I might be a little bit precious about it after all.
