October 2025

With MV Agusta once again fully independent and under the control of the Sardarov brothers, Timur and Ratmir, we caught up with Luca Martin, CEO of MV Agusta Motor SpA, at the Varese factory to hear his plans for the iconic Italian manufacturer

'With KTM, MV Agusta was seen as the cherry on top of the cake; now we want to bake our own cake'

We know that following the financial difficulties of KTM and the Pierer Mobility Group, the ownership of MV Agusta was transferred to the Sardarov brothers' Art of Mobility company. But what is the current state of play at the factory?

Well, it has been a crazy year, starting with the crash of KTM at the end of 2024. From 9 July this year, MV Agusta is officially independent again and, following a brief pit stop, we are following the path we started out on a couple of years ago.

Of course, this situation with KTM was not expected, but we have a long-term vision that started with KTM, as well as fresh management and a lot of talent, especially in sales and R&D, that has moved back from abroad. They joined MV Agusta when KTM stepped in, and they are still with us because there is a lot of enthusiasm to move forward from where we started.

We are extremely optimistic because MV Agusta, even though the situation was tough, especially during winter, is in very good shape.

imagePost KTM, what is the new structure of MV Agusta?

The majority owner of MV Agusta is Art of Mobility SA, which is controlled by the Sardarov family. The board didn’t change too much because everyone bought into the plan we had and wanted to execute our plan. I was kind of a KTM guy, but since day one, I moved back to Italy to dedicate myself to the rebirth of MV Agusta.

What have you learnt during MV’s association with KTM?

I would say we learned a lot from the cooperation with KTM. We brought a lot of their processing procedures here. Of course, not all of them were perfectly suitable for the [small] size and scale of our company here in Verese. At the same time, KTM learned a few things from us, which is why I think those two years were fruitful for both sides.

FIRST-EVER E-MOTORCYCLE BY HONDA

Honda's launch of the WN7, its first-ever production electric motorcycle, is not only big news for the company but also big news for motorcycling. We have seen excellent scooter-style electric bikes from BMW and other manufacturers. We have also seen specialist electric bikes from smaller brands like Zero, Livewire, and Can-am. But this is the first time Honda, the largest player in the market, has put a fully electric motorcycle into mass production. Furthermore, it will be available at regular dealerships, not specialised stores
