November 2025

The 2025 edition of the Japan Mobility Show, previously known as the Tokyo Motor Show, might be known for its plethora of new launches and concepts of the four-wheeled kind, but that does not mean us of the two-wheeled persuasion did not have our share of new metal to gawk at. Take a look at some of the most exciting two-wheelers to come out of Tokyo Big Sight, also known as the Tokyo Convention Centre, this year

HONDA

EV Outlier

Honda turned up the heat this year, showing off concepts not just for the all three terrains—land, air, and water—they even showcased a concept meant for outer space. What caught our attention, however, was this: the Honda EV Outlier.

It is an electric motorcycle that takes advantage of the high degree of freedom of the layout unique to electric motorcycles to usher in in-wheel motors on both the front and rear wheels. Of course, it is not likely to see the light of day in its current form, but this is as close as we can ever have come to a real-life version of the Akira bike, is it not?

Honda also unveiled the “Lite” versions of its popular scooters, the Super Cub 110 Lite and the Dio 110 Lite. Both models are powered by engines restricted to a maximum output of 5.0 hp (3.7 kW) to comply with Japan’s latest “Class 1 Motorized Bicycle” regulations. Under these new rules, two-wheelers are categorized as Class 1 if they have an engine displacement exceeding 50 cc but not more than 125 cc, and a maximum output of 5.4 hp (4.0 kW) or lower. Such vehicles can now be ridden with a less stringent motorcycle licence in Japan.
