Bred through motor sport, Ducati's motocross motorcycle is ready for the public

THE DESMO450 MX, DUCATI'S FIRST-EVER motocross motorcycle, will be available at certain European dealerships from June 2025.

As with most Ducati motorcycles, this one has also been developed in the unforgiving crucible of motor sport. Powered by a 449.6-cc single-cylinder engine which revs up to 11,900 revolutions per minute (rpm), the Ducati Desmo450 MX produces 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and a peak torque of 53.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. It is also the only motorcycle in the category with a desmodromic valve system. Ducati claim that 70 per cent of the maximum torque is available by 4,200 rpm. The fuel-tank holds a meagre 7.2 litres of petrol, which makes sense given that this is a motorcycle that is purely intended for closed-circuit use.
