The weather gods played a considerable part in Marc Márquez's winning streak being broken at the 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas
THE CIRCUIT OF THE Americas (COTA) has been a happy hunting ground for the six-time premier class champion, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), who won seven times here since the circuit made its début on the MotoGP calendar in 2013 and the only time he hasn't won has either been due to a crash or a technical issue. So, with this circuit playing host to the third round of the 2025 MotoGP season, he was the clear favourite to not only win, but extend his undefeated streak in 2025 so far. But in the world of MotoGP, not everything is predictable and the weather gods played an important part in this uncertainty. A relatively messy qualifying saw another pole position, his eighth for COTA. It was Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) qualifying second, with Alex Márquez (Gresini Racing) lining up third.
