Global Managing Director, Range Rover, Martin Limpert admits, “We didn’t expect this kind of demand,” with the kind of modesty only a man in a sharp wool suit and no tie can carry. “But we should have. People trust the Range Rover name — and they want its future to be as sophisticated as its past.” At the core of this rolling fortress laced with electricity is an in-house developed 800-volt EV architecture, paired with a 118kWh battery pack and dual motors good for 542bhp and 850NM of torque. That’s more than enough to drag a cabin in the Alps or, indeed, your own sense of time.Thanks to Independent Driveline Distribution and Integrated Traction Management, the electric system reacts 100x faster than traditional off-road setups. “If it can’t wade through 850mm of water or descend a frozen hill without blinking,” Martin says, pausing for effect, “it’s not a Range Rover.”
