Strong demand prompts Mahindra to ramp up production of its SUVs

SUV MAKER MAHINDRA & Mahindra planning to ramp up production capacity to over six lakh units per annum for its SUVS in the next 12-15 months. The initiative is being taken to help reduce current waiting periods for cars booked.

This is a 68 percent spike in capacity from the maker of Scorpio and XUV 700, who has a strong order backlog of 2.6 lakh units at the end of October 2022.
The monthly production capacity will increase from 29,000 units in Q2FY23 to 49,000 units by Q4 of FY24. Between FY22 and FY24, M&M had announced an investment of Rs 7,900 crore over a period of three years.
The above capacity is being built to cater to continued robust demand for new launches. The capacity will help the company in clearing existing bookings for M&M.
