It is 2024, and automakers are beginning to realise that if they need to carve out a chunk in this fiercely competitive subcompact SUV space it can’t just be from a different design, or new engine or any combination of the existing philosophy. It can’t be anything that people think that they want. In the words of Henry Ford himself “If I had asked the people what they wanted, they would’ve asked for a faster horse”, and sometimes the most visionary concepts require exactly that, an intuitive understanding of what people want over what they think they want. With the Syros, that is exactly what Kia has done for the SUV customer, understanding that the need for an SUV is driven by an intrinsic need for more space.
