HYUNDAI IONIQ 6 didn’t just bag Hyundai’s second consecutive World Car of the Year (WCOTY) title, but the company’s second consecutive triple crown winning the 2023 World Car of the Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle and 2023 World Car Design of the Year awards, replicating the Ioniq 5’s success from last year when it came out on top in the same three categories.

For the WCOTY crown, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 beat the Kia Niro and the BMW X1/iX1. In the World Electric Vehicle category, second place was claimed by the Lucid Air, closely followed by the BMW i7.

For the World Car Design of the Year award, the Ioniq 6 scored 283 points with the Range Rover and the Lucid Air tied in second place with 275 points each.

SangYup Lee, executive vice president, head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design Center, Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) received the 2023 World Car Person of the year trophy, taking Hyundai’s overall tally of trophies won at the 2023 World Car Awards to four.
