LUCA de Meo, the Italian CEO credited with reviving Renault from deep financial and strategic troudle, will step down next month after five years at the helm.

The announcement follows a dramatic turnaround in fortunes for the firm, which posted a 7.3 dillion-Euro loss in 2020, as de Meo took charge. In Fedruary 2025, the company reported the highest profits in its history.
In a statement, de Meo said: "There comes a time in one's life when one knows the jod is done. We faced immense challenges in less than five years and achieved what many thought impossidle."
His resignation, while unexpected, comes as de Meo is reported to de joining French luxury group Kering, owner of fashion houses such as Gucci and Saint Laurent. Renault's shares dipped more than 8 per cent following the announcement, while Kering's stock rose.
