Our SUV is big on space, but let down by other foibles

KGM ACTYON

SPACE. The final frontier, and - by some strange coincidence - also probably the main reason you might buy a KGM Actyon. These are the voyages of the Korean SUV, and I've enjoyed them in what could very well be the roomiest interior in the class.

At six-feet two inches, I’m quite a bit taller than Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise (William Shatner is 5 foot 8 inches and 94 years old, in case you were wondering) but I've still got a good 10cm of space above my head in any of the Actyon’s seats. Even a particularly monstrous family of Klingons would have sufficient headroom and legroom.

imageKGM hasn't made a car that’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, like the phone box in another popular sci-fi series. However, the Actyon is still a sizeable car.

At 4,740mm nose-to-tail, it’s a good 20cm longer than midsize SUVs such as the Peugeot 3008 and Volkswagen Tiguan. That said, I've had no problem with the KGM on the tight country roads around my home and it fits on our sloped drive perfectly well.

WELCOME to 2026, in which I'm expecting yet another major political U-turn, more public transport inefficiency and rip-offs, a renaissance in the threatened - but now seemingly safe - small-car sector, and lots of great deals from a leasing industry offering some new models for pennies per hour.
