As the industry faces a significant transformation driven by emissions regulations, digitalisation, and alternative fuels, Cummins India is positioning itself not just to respond, but to lead, says Nitin Jirafe, Managing Director, Tata Cummins Pvt. Q: Cummins has been a long-standing partner for Indian OEMs. How do you view the market today compared to a decade ago?

A: The Indian CV market has matured significantly. Ten years ago, the discussion was largely about meeting basic emission norms and achieving durability in tough operating conditions. Today, our conversations with OEMs are about integrating advanced electronics, optimising fuel efficiency, reducing total cost of ownership, and exploring alternative power solutions like natural gas, biofuels, and eventually hydrogen. The pace of change has accelerated, and so have expectations.

Q: Emissions compliance has been a recurring theme in the industry. How is Cummins enabling OEMs to stay ahead of regulatory changes?
