Vanwarı Architects' own studio dissolves boundaries between levels, people, and ideas.
-
Perched on the top two levels of a commercial building in Khar (West), Mumbai, The Architect's Studio by Vanwari Architects is both an office and a manifesto.
Designed for their own practice, the space embodies the studio's design philosophy of openness, connection, and the expressive power of light. Covering 3,000 square feet, the office reflects an Organic Modern sensibility — open floor plans, clean geometry, natural materials, and an ever-present choreography of daylight.
CONNECTING POINTS The client, in this case the architects themselves, began with a deceptively simple brief: Open and Connect. The goal was twofold — to dissolve physical barriers between the two existing levels, creating a single, cohesive spatial volume, and to invite natural light deep into the interiors by opening the building's external envelope.
The result is an office that feels more like a flowing continuum than a collection of rooms. Light moves fluidly across levels, bouncing off warm wooden planes, steel beams, and textured walls, creating an atmosphere that is both industrious and poetic. For Vanwari Architects, the project is not merely a workspace but a living demonstration of their belief that “light is a material.”Denne historien er fra November 2025-utgaven av Architect and Interiors India.
