Ghost of the farm
The Country Smallholder
|December 2025

Nicola Chester is a wonderful writer - and knows of what she writes.
Nowhere is this more evident than in her latest book, Ghosts of the Farm - a followup to her multi-award winning best seller, On Gallows Down: Place, Protest and Belonging.
I was hooked from the very beginning when, in the Preface - 'The Bedroom Carpet Farm' - I was transported back to my own childhood as Nicola told of her adventures with her Britains Toys' agricultural vehicles, farmyard buildings, walls and fences, and all the animals and people that inhabited them.
