For bee keepers and honey lovers everywhere
The Country Smallholder
|October 2025
Beekeepers put on a spectacular display at County Shows often with a colourful floral display alive with insect visitors, and an observation hive where you can see the activity within the beehive and spot the queen.
-
An even greater display of competitive entries of this season's honey, wax, and crafts from, and inspired by, our bees can be seen at The National Honey Show.
Everyone can enter the classes, you don't have to keep bees. Check out the Schedule of Classes on our website. There are classes for crafts, photography, calligrams, limericks, cakes, confectionery and more. It's a great thrill to see your entry on display, and an even greater delight to win first prize.
On the Saturday there is a programme of friendly, informal lectures by experienced beekeepers for those new to, or thinking about keeping bees. Giving the bees a good start to the year; the honey harvest and compliance with legal requirements; understanding both swarming and bee temperament are all topics essential for success.
