New foal levy to help protect all thoroughbreds' welfare

|September 25, 2025
A £60 levy paid on registration will go towards welfare work and aftercare
A NEW foal levy will help “safeguard the health, welfare, and aftercare of all horses bred to race in Britain”.
The Thoroughbred Breeders' Association (TBA) said the £60 levy, collected at registration, will apply to all thoroughbreds born in Britain, and foals registered for racing by the Non-Thoroughbred Register (NTR). It replaces the voluntary £25 split between the TBA and Retraining of Racehorses (RoR).
