Fitzgerald scores Super win

National champions are crowned at junior, pony and BE80 level and a British rider scores a double in Ireland

“IT'S an unbelievable feeling,” said 17-year-old Oscar Fitzgerald, after landing the Lycetts British junior championship (CCIJ2*-L) with the consistent Super Cillious, owned by Lucy Allison, Deborah Bevan, Juliet Donald and Vittoria Panizzon.

Oscar and “Ken” finished on their 28 dressage after a double clear pushed them from third after the cross-country to the top of the podium.

“The cross-country needed respect. The corners by the castle were tough, and the step down to the triple-bar skinny was somewhere you could have asilly mistake,” said Oscar.

“My first horse RL Rolls Royce gave me a good spin so when I came out on Ken I was full of confidence on my lines. The track suited him and the course-designer used the ground perfectly.”
