Colossal squid spotted

DEEP-SEA SCIENTISTS HAVE FILMED a live colossal squid in its natural environment for the first time since the species was identified 100 years ago. The individual was a baby. Reaching up to 7m long and tipping the scales at 500kg, colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) are the heaviest invertebrates on Earth. But this juvenile measured just 30cm.
