Extra support and £50,000 prize for former racehorses

A new training scheme will support horses straight off the track, and a major prize fund will be on offer from 2025

A NEW scheme will provide support to anyone taking on a former racehorse. There will also be a £50,000 class for such horses in 2025.
The addition to the British Eventing (BE) Howden Way training programme will offer training and support from the moment horses leave the track.
The £50,000 class will run at Cornbury House Horse Trials in 2025. The aim is to encourage riders to take on the horses, “building on the resource and guidance provided by Retraining of Racehorses [RoR]”.
Jayne McGivern of Dash Grange Stud is donating the £50,000, supported by David Howden, CEO and founder of Howden, and president and founder of the horse trials.
