THE finest view in the Vine and Craven country belongs to joint-master Sam Bracey when she’s looking through the long, grey ears of Edward.

“He’s amazing to sit on; when he’s in a rhythm, he’s a real powerhouse,” she says.

Much can be ascribed to his excellent education.

“I’ve been going to a flatwork instructor, Carolyn Gardiner, for years. It teaches him to use himself properly and jump correctly.”

He’s happy to try anything: “During the pandemic, I was so bored, I filmed myself doing dressage and sent it in – he actually did quite well!”
