How Can I Put On a Cat Show With So Few People?

The cat fancy IS much, much smaller than it was years ago, and so are our show producing clubs. We used to have dozens of "happy to help" members, eager to fill in the many roles that it takes to put on a cat show. That luxury is no longer an option for most clubs.

On top of that, in many parts of the U.S., the convenience of having a cage service do a lot of the setup and teardown is no longer available.

So how can we put on a cat show with just a handful of people or less? And why do we have so few people to help? Here are some useful tips.

1. Make setting up and tearing down a cat show less laborious.

I like to call this "cat-show light." In the Texas area, we lost our cage service several years ago. They had warned us that there was an upcoming retirement and that it was likely there would be no one to take their place. We were forced to implement ways to lighten the load of putting on a cat show. We took it a step at a time since we were forewarned. First, we stopped making free wire cages available.
