Do honeyguide birds really help honey badgers find bees' nests? Well, probably.....

Sweet nothings

SOME TALES ARE JUST TOO good not to be true. The story goes that a little African bird called the honeyguide, which has a penchant for beeswax but is incapable of breaking open a hive, leads the honey badger, which is very strong and fond of honey, to bees' nests. As a result of this partnership, both enjoy a meal that they would otherwise have missed out on. But does it actually happen?
