Happily married with four wonderful kids, even if they do get in a bit of a flap over trivial things.
Although I’m getting a bit long in the beak, they say I still cut a dash with my white belly and black jacket with white polka dots and stripes. I have bright yellow eyes, with pink skin around them and lovely long lashes with natural mascara, which saves on the Estée Lauder bill each month. My sexiest feature is a big, curvaceous yellow beak. Some folks uncharitably call us ‘flying bananas’, but that’s just plain racist. I might live in a banana republic, but I’m not a Zanu-PF bird.

Is NECHISAR NIGHTJAR a hybrid?
Vernon Head's award-winning book The Search for the Rarest Bird in the World brought widespread attention to the curious case of the Nechisar Nightjar. In 1992, a dead nightjar was found on a dirt road in Nechisar National Park, southern Ethiopia. A wing was collected and the bird was later described as a new species based on its distinctive large white wing patch. Its scientific name, Caprimulgus solala, attests to the fact that it is known only from a single wing.
