She’s the sensational voice behind one of the biggest dance hits of the ’90s, but these days you’ll find singer Jenny Bersola belting out a very different tune as she makes good on a childhood promise in Aotearoa!

It’s a long way from her bedroom in northern Italy where talented Jenny, then 17, dreamed of using her exquisite voice for a career in music.

Despite her ambitions, she suffered from crippling performance anxiety.

“My main problem when I was a teenager was I loved to sing but couldn’t stand the thought of people looking at me or listening to me while I was singing,” the 47-year-old songbird explains. “It was just way too much.”

She clearly remembers a vow she made at the time to help others overcome their nerves, but what she couldn’t foresee was that it would bring her halfway round the world to New Zealand.

“I made a promise to myself that when I turned old – to me, 40 was old – I would help young musicians and artists overcome their stage fright.”
