'Deltics' Sold To Locomotive Services

THE future of ‘Deltics’ Nos. 55022 Royal Scots Grey and D9016 (55016) Gordon Highlander took a new direction at the end of November, when Martin Walker of Beaver Sports announced that a deal had been struck for the locos to move to a new base at Crewe Diesel Depot following their acquisition by Locomotive Diesels Ltd.

The sale, which includes all spares, components and consumables, is for an undisclosed sum but is described as “a realistic amount, truly reflecting the historical value of Royal Scots Grey and Gordon Highlander” by the former owner.

Locomotive Diesels is part of Locomotive Services Ltd, the new train operating company set up by Jeremy Hosking, which operates locos under the ‘Icons of Steam’ banner. By coincidence, the firm also owns ‘Bubble Car’ No. 55022 at Southall.
