Samsung GalaxyS22 Ultra

A Galaxy Note in disguise, the S22 Ultra packs everything into this 6.8in phone – and demands a stiff price in return

PRICE 128GB, £958 (£1,149 inc VAT) from samsung.com/uk
The 6.8in Galaxy S22 Ultra is, to the casual observer, a Galaxy Note in a shiny, new coat. But it’s so much more than this, thanks in no small part to the bold camera array it lifts almost intact from the S21 Ultra.
Such capabilities don’t come cheap. The S22 Ultra starts at £1,149 for 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, while a 256GB model with 12GB of RAM costs £1,249. Samsung offers a 512GB option for £1,329 and 1TB for £1,499; choose your storage wisely, because none of them comes with a microSD card slot. Your other choices boil down to colour, with seven options available: phantom black, phantom white, burgundy, green, graphite, sky blue and red.
Looking sharp
The frame is a solid Armor Aluminum that rigidly resists bends. Polished on the outside to a near-chrome finish, the metal is sandwiched between two Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ plates. The front glass is high-gloss, and the back is a warm satin finish; both do a decent job of repelling fingerprints.
Small hands will struggle to hold the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and it doesn’t help that the curved edges makes it as slippery as a fish. Albeit a fish made of hard glass and metal.
