The shadow of the past looms large over Back 4 Blood. Hell, just in case it wasn’t clear that this was intended to be a Left 4 Dead follow-up, the team at Turtle Rock studios even follow the same naming convention by putting a number in the title. Perhaps it’s an early sign that this new take on zombie slaughtering was always going to struggle to carve out its own identity.

Still, I find my time gunning down the Ridden leaves me pondering who this game is actually for. Now, I understand I have already said it follows in Left 4 Dead’s lineage and could assume it was made for fans of that game. Except
