Cloud computing is the future of data storage. Instead of (or even ‘as well as’) storing documents and data on your computer, you can keep them on ‘the cloud’, that is, on remote servers maintained by cloud storage providers. The advantages are clear. As your data files are stored on cloud servers and available online, you can access them anywhere, and from any device with a web browser. You might produce a document at work, saving it to a cloud storage service, and then carry on editing it at home using your own computer. Naturally, you then have to spread your photos, videos and documents over multiple storage providers. Of course, you could simply pay £2.49/$2.99/2.99 € a month and get 200GB from iCloud (or a similar amount from several other storage providers), but nothing feels as good as free feels, right?
