Cloud computing is on the rise, and you can get a significant amount of storage space for free; just sign up for a provider’s free services. If you’re prepared to spread your data over a series of storage providers, you can build up a decent amount of space for free. Here’s how to go about it.

Get Almost 100GB of Free Cloud Storage

Cloud computing is the future of data storage. Instead of (or even ‘as well as’) storing documents and data on your computer, you can keep them on ‘the cloud’, that is, on remote servers maintained by cloud storage providers. The advantages are clear. As your data files are stored on cloud servers and available online, you can access them anywhere, and from any device with a web browser. You might produce a document at work, saving it to a cloud storage service, and then carry on editing it at home using your own computer. If you’re on the train and you need access to that document, just whip out your iPad and get online.

There are many cloud storage providers, and most offer both free and paid storage plans. With a little bit of work and some organisation, you can sign up for a range of cloud storage services, limiting yourself to the free option, and get almost 100GB of free cloud storage in a matter of minutes.

Naturally, you then have to spread your photos, videos and documents over multiple storage providers. Of course, you could simply pay £2.49/$2.99/2.99 € a month and get 200GB from iCloud (or a similar amount from several other storage providers), but nothing feels as good as free feels, right?
