Disney+ Launches – And What It Might Mean For Apple

Have you sampled Disney+ yet? Yep, that’s right: as of approximately 12am ET on November 12, when Disney “flipped the switch” on Disney+, the eagerly-anticipated streaming service has been showing off its wares. It’s now available across the United States, Canada and the Netherlands, on almost every platform. But the stars of the show are, of course, the productions themselves, with both classic Disney content and intriguing new offerings awaiting viewers.

FIRST… THE BASICS

As aforementioned, the above three countries already have Disney+, and this coverage will gradually expand, with Australia and New Zealand getting the service from November 19. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Ireland will all have to wait until March 31, 2020 to gain access.

Presuming you’re in a territory where you can already sign up to Disney+, all that you have to do is head to the official DisneyPlus. com website, and then choose between either the $6.99 monthly plan or a $69.99 annual subscription. The longer-term option effectively saves you about two months’ worth of fees, although regardless of the plan you select, you’ll get seven days free to immerse yourself in the service, without being charged during that period.

Alternatively, you could always just download the relevant app onto your device and make an in-app purchase to activate the subscription. With Disney+ being available on Apple’s iOS, iPad OS and tvOS, in addition to Google’s Android OS, Amazon’s FireTV, LG’s webOS, Samsung’s Tizen and even the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the service looks set to be more-or-less everywhere in very short order.
