Young: ‘I get to be an inspiration'

First-rounder

Bad news for Redskins opponents – Chase Young says he can get bigger and better.
“My hands can definitely get better,” he said. “My hips can definitely get better, my first step can, hand placement in the run game can get better. It’s a lot of stuff that I have in my head that I’m focused on and that I’m working on just so I can do better at it in the League than in college.”
The No. 2 overall pick is expected to be the tip of spear of coach Ron Rivera’s new 4-3 defense designed to snuff the life out of opposing offenses. That’s why the Redskins never gave serious consideration to drafting a quarterback or trading down for multiple picks. They knew Young could be the game-changer needed to revamp the 3-13 team with a 27th-ranked defense.
Young is well acquainted with the Redskins, having grown up near FedEx Field before joining Ohio State. He became the eighth Redskin with Washington-area ties, a big number considering most years there might be one at the most. It will allow Young an instant bond with linemate Jonathan Allen, whom he visited the day after drafted to get started. That and Young got the skinny from former Ohio State teammate Dwayne Haskins on what life is like at Redskins Park.
The word – get ready for hard work.
