Bassala At His Best At Grand Old Lady

Bassala Sambou admits there is something about Goodison Park that brings the best out in him after scoring a stunning goal to help Everton Under-23s defeat Portsmouth.

The former Coventry City man netted twice in the 3-0 Premier League Cup tie, bending a dipping effort into the top corner from 25 yards, before latching onto a loose pass from Pompey goalkeeper Alex Bass and firing low into the net.

Fellow forward Nathan Broadhead opened the scoring on the night last Tuesday, with the win lifting the young Blues up to second in their four-team Premier League Cup group.

Sambou, who also revealed his frustration at a goal drought going into the game, was delighted to break the sequence, particularly in such spectacular fashion.
