Southee And Boult: Nz's Best Fast Bowling Pair Ever

Can there be any doubt that Tim Southee and Trent Boult are the finest pair of fast bowl-ers to have appeared for New Zealand? The Black Caps have been well served in the pace department since they started playing Test cricket in 1930 and the country has produced one of the greatest bowlers of all time in Richard Hadlee. Shane Bond could have been another great but for the injuries that hastened the end of his career.

However during Hadlee’s long career he had to plough a lonely furrow. Yes, he had the support of bowlers like Lance Cairns, Ewen Chatfield and Danny Morrison. They were all good bowlers but lacked the sparkle and qualities associated with Boult and Southee. They gave the great man adequate support but batsmen always knew that there could be some relief at the other end.
