Peloton Unconvinced By Women's Tour Longer Stages

Tough route draws mixed response from riders.

Not only did the 2019 OVO Energy Women’s Tour have an extra day compared to previous editions, it was without doubt the toughest of the six editions to date. Th e opening stage in Suffolk was one of four over 140km, with the longest approaching 165km including the neutral roll-out. Add more than 8,000 metres of climbing and the six days were a stern test.

Contrast that to the first year when 118.5km was the longest day, and the development is clear to see. However, some in the peloton are unconvinced the longer stages add to the excitement.
