The Sixties saw a legendary French bike firm go potty for pink.
Asked to name a bike manufacturer which is specifically associated with one colour, chances are most people will say ‘Bianchi’ and ‘Celeste’. Others might suggest Gios Torino’s favoured deep Brooklyn blue, or even Eddy Merckx’s trademark 1970s Molteni orange. But anyone with an interest in old French racing bikes will pipe up with Mercier and their long love affair with rose (pink) paint.
