British Cycling Open To Williamson Return

British Cycling has left the door open for track sprinter Vicky Williamson to return after the Tokyo Olympics following her switch to bobsleigh last month.

Speaking to Cycling Weekly, Williamson said that coaches had told her she was welcome to come back if she wanted to have another attempt at making it to the Olympics in Paris 2024 on a bike.

“They said to me the door is always open if after Tokyo I did want to come back and go for round three,” she said.

Williamson had been poised to go the Olympics in Rio but suffered a horrific crash in which she broke her neck and back, as well as dislocating her pelvis and slipping a disc in her neck. She has spent three years recovering, returning to international competition only in January 2019. However, she has struggled to overcome the difficulties those injuries have created.
