Tucked away in the bearing races of hubs, headset, pedals and bottom bracket, these little shiny spheres are the hardest-working bits of your bike, allowing moving parts to roll around each other smoothly rather than rubbing against each other, which would cause friction and power loss. Without them your bike simply wouldn’t work.

We take them for granted, but every single one is a minor miracle of creation and engineering.
