Rivers are India’s lifeblood. And protecting these rivers was Latha Anantha’s life’s mission. Born in 1966, Latha’s sensitivity towards the planet shone through. Early in her professional life, while working as an Agricultural Officer in Kerala, she witnessed the shift in farming practices when farmers began to turn to monocrops and started using chemical-laden pesticides and fertilisers, which flowed into rivers, polluting them.
