Good riddance

FOR YEARS, Malan Raut and her family would take turns to stay up at night and watch over their field. Despite working all day, sowing and harvesting vegetables on their 0.8 hectare (ha) land, the night shift was necessary to keep wild animals away. Deer, wild boar, nilgai and rabbits would eat half of the crops at night, and we would incur huge losses, says Raut from Nagarsoga village in Latur district of Maharashtra.
