Five PlayStation 4 Games That Need a PS5 Patch

With the recent news that Dying Light will be receiving a patch to run better on PlayStation 5, it got me browsing through my catalogue of games and wondering "Which of these would I love to see get that 4K/ 60fps boost?"

But what does that actually mean? This feature improves the performance of backward-compatible PlayStation 4 titles by upping the resolution and increasing the frame rate, making the game look sharper and run smoother. Now, some of these games look and play brilliantly already, but a bit of an extra boost is never a bad a thing.

As if my backlog wasn't big enough, here are a few games I would love to fire up again on the PS5:

Alien: Isolation

Well it is spooky season, so let’s kick things off with an appropriate game, shall we?

Alien: Isolation is a first-person horror game with quite possibly the best atmosphere and aesthetics I’ve ever seen in a game. It perfectly captures the spirit of the original film and makes the unpredictable Xenomorph a genuinely frightening enemy that learns from the way you play the game. Hide underneath a table one too many times? You best believe old two-mouths will find you. Fast.

With the current PS4 version running at 1080p and locked to 30fps, the potential boost to 4K & 60fps to match the PC version would be noticeable, especially with the game’s art direction. Add in the option to enable 3D audio and you’d have a perfect game to keep you on the edge of your seat!

Dragonkin: The Banished

I decided to check out the Early Access of Dragonkin: The Banished, an isometric hack-and-slash action RPG developed by Eko Software and published by Nacon. I've always been interested in playing something like Diablo, but due to Activision-Blizzard's less-than-stellar track record over the years, I've avoided it like the plague until now. So, what did I experience in this little slice of dragon slaying?

Guards II: Chaos in Hell

Have you ever wanted a game that you could play in the background without requiring hours of your emotional time? I'm talking about a game that you can pick up after a long break and not have to spend half your playtime trying to figure out what happened the last time you played. Well, that's the kind of game Guards II: Chaos in Hell from developer Battlecruiser Games wants to be, so let's see if this is a journey into Hell that is worth taking, or if you’d be better served playing Minesweeper again.
